Obituary

Moses Cato, 84, of Austin, Tx, passed from this life during the morning hours of Wednesday, October 17, 2019 in Temple, Texas. Born on the ninth day of August 1935 in Millry, Alabama he was the son of Joe and Malverta (Williamson) Langford.

Moses was a veteran of the United States Army, having served for thirty-three years before his retirement in February 1982 as a Sergeant First Class. He met Joyce Stubblefield in Clinton Iowa, and the couple was married in the early 1960s. They were married 50+ years together until Joyce’s passing in July 2014. The couple’s family included three daughters, all of whom they loved dearly and were proud of.

Moses was a strong, brave, and dedicated Christian man who regularly attended the Simpson United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas. Moses was a man of few words, but his actions, generosity and big heart spoke volumes. He will be missed by all.

Moses is preceded in death by his wife Joyce, as well as his twin brother Aaron Cato. For those who knew Aaron and Moses, they were known as “Mutt ‘n Jeff”, with Aaron nicknamed “Mutt”, and Moses nicknamed “Jeff”.

Moses leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved daughters Michelle, Teresa and Gayla, his sister-in-law Oradell Cato of Detroit, MI, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Cato were held on Wednesday October 23, 2019 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Surrounded by loving family & friends, he received full military honors and was then laid to rest next to his wife Joyce.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
