Obituary

MaryEllen Palen, age 72, of Killeen, Texas passed from this life on Friday, August 23, 2019 at her home. Born on the 7th day of December 1946 in Brainerd, Minnesota she was the daughter of Merwin and Irma (Fair) Cheney.
MaryEllen spent her childhood years in Brainerd. She went to school and graduated from Brainerd High School. She married Dan Palen in Brainerd on September 7, 1976. MaryEllen moved to California in 1986; she would spend the next 20 years of her life there. In 2012 she moved back to Brianerd for a short time until moving to Killeen, Texas in 2017. She was a member of the New Sunset Community Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dan, her parents Merwin and Irma as well as 1 brother Gary Cheney.
MaryEllen leaves behind her sons Michael Morin of Copperas Cove, Texas, Peter of Vancouver, Danny of San Diego, Pat of Chula Vista and Jaime of Duluth, as well as daughters Chris, Penny, Sarah and Amy, all of Duluth, Minnesota. She also leaves brothers Roy Cheney and wife Karen of Brainerd, Lee Cheney of Dassel, Al Cheney and wife Joy of Hutchinson and her sisters Terry Orton and husband Jay of Brainerd, Sue Zilligan of Kerrville and Diane Cheney of Pflugerville. MaryEllen leaves many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery with a celebration of life to be held at 1:00pm on September 6, 2019 at the American Legion in Brainerd, Minnesota.
