Emma Mae East, age 82, of Temple passed from this life during the mid-morning hours of Sunday, September 8, 2019 at her home. Born in Junction, Texas on the 14th day of May 1937 she was the daughter of Fred Martin and Nettie Gamel.

Emma married Albert Benny East in Stanton, Texas on July 7, 1951. The newly wed couple would walk hand-in-hand through life building a family and enjoying each other’s company until Albert’s passing. Emma was a collector of Native American memorabilia and artifacts. She loved anything to do with “the old west” including watching western movies, especially Hopalong Cassidy who was her favorite. She loved to be in the kitchen cooking for her family and friends and loved Coca-Cola and everything that had to do with Coke. Emma was a member of the Golinda Baptist Church and had been a resident of Falls County for many years before moving to Temple 3 years ago.

She is preceded in death by her husband Albert, 1 son Benny East, 1 grandson Randy Bender, her parents Fred and Nettie as well as 8 of her siblings.

Emma leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Nettie Melton of Temple and her 4 sons Johnny East of Temple, Bobby East of Waco, Albert East of Hutto and Roy East of El Paso. She also leaves behind 1 sister Johanna Haggerton of Corpus Christi, 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is pending and will be announced at a later date.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
