Earl grew up in the small farming community of Dublin, Texas which is where he would graduate high school from in 1954. As a young man Earl caught the eye of a young lady by the name of Fern Stephens. In 1955 the couple would make their union binding before God; the newlyweds would spend the next 64 years together walking hand-in-hand through life building a family that would eventually include 2 daughters and 2 sons. For over 35 years Earl worked for Fruehauf Trailers in Ft. Worth as a welder. After retirement and when life began to slow down Earl began to enjoy the smaller things in life. Working outside tending his cattle, feeding the birds and listening to the music they would sing as well as feeding his cats would take up most of the day for Earl. He was a man of few words but when he did speak you knew you had better listen as what he was going to say had meaning and importance. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and loved his faithful little sidekick puppy, Jenny. He was a member of the Carlton Baptist Church and a Freemason. He has lived in Temple for the past 2 years but previously had lived in Dublin for over 42 years. Earl’s work ethic and his dedication to his family will be the legacy that he leaves for generations to come.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents W.T. and Hattie as well as 4 sisters and 1 brother.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Fern Flory, 2 daughters Linda Milson and husband Mark and Terri Willis and husband Bobby, as well as his 2 sons Rod Flory and wife Ckeli and Roger Flory and wife Jennifer. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, 1 brother John Flory and 1 sister Martha Richards.
A memorial service for Mr. Flory will take place on October 5th at 10:30am at the Hickey Cemetery in Dublin, Texas. Lunch and fellowship to follow at the Harbin Volunteer Fire Department on FM 847 in Stephenville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please make donations to the American Heart Association in Earl's name.
Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
