Donna Mae Hicks, age 68, of Temple passed from this life during the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born on the 25th day of August 1951 in Temple she was the daughter of Donal and Lela (Reed) Hunt.

Donna is a Temple High School graduate, class of 1969. She has been a resident of Bell County for her entire life except for a short time when she lived in Ohio. Donna made her career as a secretary at Western Auto in Temple for many years. After Western Auto sold, she worked for Artco-Bell until her retirement. Donna enjoyed reading, crocheting as well as cooking and baking for her family. She loved anything to do with horses and even did quite a bit of barrel racing in her younger years. Donna loved her family and friends with a love that was truly unwavering. Even though she had not been to church in many years she was a Christian and knew of her heavenly home when her time here was complete.

She is preceded in death by her parents Donal and Lela as well as her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Donna leaves behind to cherish her memory her 2 sons Roger Hicks of Lake Stevens, WA and Jeff Hicks of Tuscola, TX. She also leaves 2 sisters Patricia Reed of Rogers and Tammy Mullins of Little River-Academy.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Hewett-Arney Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I worked with Donna at Western Auto and have not seen her in many years, but thought of her often. She had a big personality and a wonderful laugh to go along with it! We used to have wonderful potluck luncheons and celebrations at Western Auto and I have several of her recipes that I still use. My condolences to the boys whom I know she cherished.

Our deepest sympathy to Roger Lee, Jeff and Carrie. Donna will be missed by my Mom and myself so very much. She and Mom loved to talk for hours a week about the Rangers, Cowboys, politics, Western Auto, friends and how to solve all the world's problems. They would laugh, cry and complain about how those in charge needed their help to fix whatever was wrong. Donna used to love to say "if only they would let us run things, we would get 'em fixed" How very true. Our lives will have a very large empty spot in it with her not being here, but I know she is happy with her Maw Maw and Paw Paw and Tator in Heaven. We love you Donna and will see you again one day. Until then, we will watch for the red cardinals. Bernice and Connie Priddy
