Curtis Jane “Dolly” McKenzie, age 83, of Temple passed from this life during the morning hours of Friday, June 21, 2019 at a Killeen nursing home with her family by her side. Born on the 20th day of September 1935 in Rogers, Texas Dolly was the daughter of Robert and Ollie (Underwood) Seaton.

In her early years Dolly attended school in Rogers. After school Dolly would go on to marry Eugene McKenzie. They made their union binding on the 17th day of August 1957; from that day forward Eugene and Dolly spent the next 49 years together building a life and a family which would eventually include 1 daughter. Dolly’s journey here was full of life and love. She could be described as having a givers soul. Dolly spent a great many hours volunteering her time at the VA hospital in Temple which she loved to do. She worked hard for what she had and knew the value of a good day’s work. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and those that loved her knew that whatever she was thinking at the time, well she was going to tell you what it was. She was a past president and Chaplain of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #133. Dolly was a very faithful women and absolutely knew of her eternal reward in heaven when her time here on earth was complete. She knew of God’s love for her and she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene McKenzie, parents Robert and Ollie, sister Mary Nell Seaton and brother Eddie “Sonny” Seaton.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Teresa McInis and husband Ronnie of Temple, granddaughter Mallory Walker and husband Bryan of Washington state, grandson Jacob McInis of Temple, great-grandson Levi Walker and 1 great-grandchild on the way.
A funeral service for Dolly will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home at 10 o’clock a.m. with Pastor Billy Koinm officiating; a burial will follow at Reeds Lake Cemetery in Rogers. The family will be accepting visitors at the funeral home Wednesday night between the hours of 6 and 8 o’clock p.m.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Rosewood Skilled Nursing Facility in Killeen as well as the staff of Compassus Hospice.
